Case Study

Fundación Junior Achievement

The Junior Achievement Foundation, a non-profit organisation, promotes entrepreneurial (in particular solopreneur), financial and job training for young people. Through its "Entrepreneurial Education" programme, it seeks to strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of young people, providing them with a basis for exploring future job opportunities and encouraging the idea of entrepreneurship (in particular solopreneur).

Within this programme, several courses are offered that address different skills related to entrepreneurship:

  • The "Innovation Camp" is aimed at secondary school, high school and vocational training students, who participate in a day focused on solving a current challenge related to issues such as sustainability, self-awareness and Artificial Intelligence. The students work in teams to design a product or service that meets the proposed challenge. During the day, guided by volunteers with business experience, they foster collective creativity through Design Thinking, learn how to present their entrepreneurial ideas using techniques such as Elevator Pitch and Visual Thinking. The main objectives of the programme include fostering the entrepreneurial spirit (in particular solopreneur), encouraging innovation, promoting creative thinking, developing teamwork and leadership skills, improving communication skills and promoting skills that contribute value to society, as well as learning to use online work platforms.
  • The "Mini-companies" course involves secondary school, high school and vocational training students, who must devise a service or product that benefits the community. This enables them to make entrepreneurial decisions through the creation, organisation and management of their own business. The main objectives of the course include identifying a need in their environment, assigning roles to each student within the mini-enterprise, developing a business plan with specific objectives, designing a prototype of the product/service for market testing, and launching the product/service by identifying the best marketing channel.

“Emprende por el clima" is designed for students aged 12 to 15, with the aim of raising awareness about environmental care and fostering their entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. Activities focus on environmental challenges such as water, recycling, mobility, carbon footprint, energy and consumption, for which students must find solutions. The objectives of this course include promoting environmental awareness, social commitment, developing creativity and entrepreneurship to address environmental problems and generating business ideas with an impact on the community.
