In the scope of the Ministry of Economy, IAPMEI’s mission is to promote competitiveness and business growth through the management of instruments and programs aimed at strengthening SME innovation, entrepreneurship and business investment.

Launched by IAPMEI, the StartUp Voucher program has been the subject of interest from national and international entities. It was included in the final report for DG GROW as a good practice, within the scope of the project "Support services for potential entrepreneurs and newly created companies", funded by the European Commission and which aims to identify and study support services in 42 countries (including Portugal), for individuals looking to establish businesses and for new businesses, in the first few years of operation. As a relevant tool for the good performance of entrepreneurship in Portugal, this program was also mentioned in the "2018 SBA Factsheet Portugal", which is an integral part of the European Commission's analysis of the performance of SMEs.

Nedávno IAPMEI propagovala ďalší program,StartUP Boost - Capacitar para Empreender (StartUP Boost – Podpora kapacít pre podnikanie), v ktorom vzniklo množstvo produktov, vrátane aplikácie App do Empreendedor (aplikácia pre podnikateľov), ktorá je dostupná v obchodoch s mobilnými aplikáciami. Táto aplikácia agreguje nástroje a zdroje pre podnikateľov, a má rastúcu digitálnu komunitu podnikateľov, ktorých podporuje v ich jednotlivých aktivitách a celkovej podnikateľskej ceste. V roku 2023 bola táto aplikácia ocenená ako najlepší projekt digitálnej udržateľnosti a začlenenia, čo je uznanie udelené cenou Navegantes XXI od ACEPI za prínos k digitálnej ekonomike a spoločnosti v Portugalsku.
